'Gun-free' is a sure-fire way to cause trouble

A recent news release claims that Gunfree South Africa and Western Cape
schools are "educating" children with Gunfree South Africa's iGun iFlop
programme.

There is no evidence that indoctrinating children to fear and hate firearms
and firearm owners will in any way reduce crime or the supply of guns to
criminals. Studies in the US have shown gun-control laws or interventions
do not reduce crime.

By declaring schools gun-free areas Gunfree South Africa has left teachers
no means with which to protect themselves. They now run and hide rather
than face armed thugs the ANC government has empowered.

The Department of Education and the Department of Community Safety must
explain why a known propaganda group has been allowed to brainwash these
children with unproven gun-control theories.
