Four people were gunned down and killed in the early hours of Saturday morning in the Georgedale area of Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal.

Police spokesperson Joshua Gwala said that the drama unfolded at the "My Corners Tavern" while the owner sat outside.

"Customers were drinking inside the tavern when the owner, 31-year-old Bulelani Nondokwane, was confronted by unknown gunmen and shot in his chest and leg," Gwala said.

Three tavern patrons, Sthembiso Chili, 22, Ntokozo Chamane, 25, and Sibusiso Dlomo, 26, were shot and killed when they went outside to investigate.

Nondokwane was still alive when other customers rushed him to a nearby clinic, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Before fleeing, the gunmen stole cash and liquor.

No arrests have been made.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have information to contact the inves-tigating officer, Detective Inspector Ferlington Mhlope Mpoma on 031 771 8000 or Crime Stop on toll free 08600 10111.

In a separate incident at Plessislaer, 36-year-old Thandikile Ximba was assaulted and shot dead.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man.

It is believed that a man went to her home on Sunday to find Ximba and her daughter sitting outside.

He asked her why she was outside, to which Ximba replied that it was too hot.

Ximba then went into the kitchen to prepare supper when the man assaulted her and then shot her with a 9mm pistol.

He was arrested and will appear in court on Monday.
