Renewal of firearm licenses a huge burden on firearm owners

It has come to the knowledge of the ACDP that ordinary citizens who wish to renew their legally owned firearms do not only have the huge costs to meet for it but also have become in many instances the victims of the arrogant and aggressive treatment from Government officials. It is also the taxes paid by the citizens that make the jobs and the salaries of these rude and unhelpful Government officials possible.

As it is impossible for any police force to guarantee the safety of every citizen, no hindrance should be placed upon the right of law-abiding citizens to obtain and use firearms for self-defense. As the vast majority of violent crimes are committed by criminals using unlicensed weapons, it is clear that restricting the rights of citizens to own, carry and use firearms cannot prevent violent crime. Disarming the potential victims of crime can only serve the purposes of the criminal.

ACDP will therefore reaffirm the Biblical rights and responsibilities of citizens to obtain, own, carry and use firearms for personal or family defense, said Casper Nordier, member of the Provincial Legislature and ACDP Free State Provincial Leader.
